Bunny Noel Smith

Bunny Noel Smith was born to Arvel and Eula B Smith in Garza County, Texas March 24, 1940.

He lived in the Ragtown/Close City Community most of his life going to school at Ragtown, Post and Southland. Growing up he loved sports learning to play baseball, basketball and football on the dirt courts at Ragtown. After high school, he joined the Air Force where he was an AP and played basketball for the Air Force in the States and on Okinawa. After his service in the Air Force he went to school at Ranger Junior College, Cisco Junior College and Texas Tech University. He learned to fly airplanes, helicopters and was a license mechanic. He looked forward to going to Alaska every summer as long as he could, where he flew and worked at various lodges.

Bunny never married but considered his nieces and nephews his children.

He passes away January 2, 2019 at home in the Ragtown/Close City Community. He was preceded in death by his parents Arvel and Eula B Smith. He is survived by two brothers Harry and Nelda Smith of Early, Texas and Clinton and Peggy Smith of Georgetown, Texas; three sisters, Kathleen Hooks of Galveston, Texas; Miriam O’Neal of Post, Texas and Sylvia and Donnie Dingus of Brownfield, Texas. He loved spoiling his six nephews and five nieces and great-nephews and nieces. He also survived by one uncle.

Bunny loved and was loved by many. He never met a stranger and was a devoted Christian.

Visitation was held at Hudman Funeral Home on Friday, January 4 with graveside services on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Grassland Cemetery.
