ANTELOPE ARENA – On Friday, January 3, the Post Antelopes Varsity Boys faced off against the Petersburg Buffaloes. Being their first win of 2020, the Antelopes crushed the Buffaloes with a score of 69-15. In the first quarter, the Antelopes broke the scoring drought with a total of 20 points while the Buffaloes only managed to score 2. During the second quarter, the Antelopes upped their total by scoring an additional 18 for a halftime score of 38-7. After halftime, the Antelopes kept their stamina by scoring 31 combined points in the third and fourth quarter. The Buffaloes scored 8 points in the third quarter and were stifled in the final quarter making no points. The final score of 69-15 was a tremendous win for the Antelopes. On Friday, January 10, the Antelopes will play against the Bulldogs in Tahoka.
Friday night, January 3, the Post Lady Lopes Varsity Girls played Petersburg Buffaloes and beat them 39-30 to start the new year strong. The Lady Lopes started off with a first quarter score of 8-2. In the second quarter, the Lady Lopes increased their score by 11 points. By the third quarter, Post had scored another 7 points for a combined score of 26-19. In the final quarter, the Lady Lopes remained on top, scoring an additional 13 points, the final score being 39-30. Senior Sylvia Hernandez scored 8 points with 2 rebounds. Sophomore Marti Cruse had 6 rebounds and 1 assist. Briley Miller had 7 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Senior Audrey Moreno had 6 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 1 block. On Friday, January 10, the Lady Lopes will open district against Lockney at the Antelope Arena.
