POST ISD AUDITORIUM – Delayed due to the state football game, the Post Elementary hosted their 3-5 grade Annual Christmas Extravaganza on Monday, January 13.
The Christmas Extravaganza started with “Jingling with the XyloTones” in which students from Honors Music played. Consisting of students from two grades, the fourth graders played “Ding Dong Merrily High” and the fifth graders played “Carol of the Bells.”
In “Caroling with Third Grade,” the students played handbells. On the handbells, students played “Joy to the World,” “Good King Wenceslas,” “Hayden’s Sleigh Song,” “Hark the Harald Sing,” “Infant Holy and Three King” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”
Next, fifth grade showed their recorder skills in “Serenaded by Fifth Grade.” Students played “A Medieval Christmas,” “Russian Christmas,” “Fantasia on a Christmas Spiritual,” “Mountain of the Ice Dragon” and “Kris Kringle Jingle Thingle.”
To finish the Christmas Extravaganza, fourth grade put on their Christmas musical titled “Holly Jolly Jukebox. In the musical, children travel to an attic to search for Christmas decorations. While in the attic, they meet a living jukebox, played by Raymond Bennet, that has been covered up and stored out of sight for years. Upon uncovering the jukebox, the children are transported to different periods of time through music. Songs included were “Swingin’ Holiday,” “Doo Wop December,” “California December,” “S A N T A !,” “Something to Share,” and “Jingle Bell Jam.” Special solos were performed by Neveah Curtis in “Swingin’ Holiday,” Casia Poteet, Angel Carrillo and Carmelita Segura in “Doo Wop December,” Amelia Enriquez, Kaydance Zapert, Chance Bevers and Zackary Gonzalez in “California Christmas,” Khloe Smith in “Something to Share” and Zavion Foy and Saphire Hall in “Jingle Bell Jam.”
