Garza 4-H Golden Clover Club had a great day at the GCJLA Stock Show. It was bittersweet for our three seniors, since it was their last show in the barn. However, all three are headed to the Major Stock Shows starting with Fort Worth, San Angelo, San Antonio, Houston and ending with Rodeo Austin. We wish you all good luck and safe travels. Our spotlighted Seniors:
MaKaylee Butler is Homeschooled and has been showing for 9 years. She started out showing Medium Wools, Southdowns and goats. MaKaylee admits that starting out she wasn’t a fan of the Southdown breed, but quickly became her favorite. After High School she will be attending South Plains College with the intent of transferring to Covenant School of Nursing to become a RN. Good luck at San Angelo and San Antonio.
Maegen Bland, is a student at Borden County and has been showing for 10 years. Her trailer will be loaded with lambs and goats headed to Fort Worth, San Angelo, San Antonio, Houston and Austin. Meagen will be attending San Angelo State with a major in Education.
Caleb Wood has had a phenomenal senior year in the show ring and on the football field. He attends school at Lubbock Christian which their football team went to State this year. He was second team All-State Defense and All State Academic. A member of National Honor Society with plans to attend college with a major in Animal Science. While this is only his second year in 4-H and second year to show, he has grown up on the C- Ranch helping his dad and grandad with their purebred Angus and Charolais operation his whole life.
Garza County is very proud of our three seniors and the future they have in their hands.
