Sarah Hite is a small-town West Texas girl at heart. As a young girl she moved from town to town every 2-3 years because her father was a United Methodist Minister. At the age of 15, they landed in Lubbock, and she finished high school at Lubbock High. After high school, she joined the United States Army and was trained as an Operating Room Specialist during the time of Desert Storm. She was stationed at Ft. Hood, right here in good ole’ Texas!
After two years, she transferred to Reserve duty and came home to Lubbock. She then started pursuing her nursing career. She attended South Plains College in Levelland and obtained her LVN in 1995. After several years, she strayed from nursing and obtained a Bachelors in Family Ministry from Lubbock Christian University and worked with several youth ministries, and taught school at Trinity Christian School for two years.
However, her calling to medicine and nursing was strong and she missed it. She decided to begin pursing her RN. She received her Associates Degree in Nursing from Excelsior College in 1998. Even then, she knew she wanted to continue her education and become a Family Nurse Practitioner, but she was dedicated to raising her children first.
The opportunity to return to school finally arrived in 2016, and she leapt at the chance to pursue her dream. In May of 2018, she graduated with a Masters in the Science of Nursing with Family Nurse Practitioner from Summons University in Boston, MA., one of the oldest nursing programs in the country. She was able to train with some of the best physicians in West Texas. Her future goals include continuing her nursing education and completing a Doctorate of Nursing Practice.
In December of 2019, the opportunity to come to Garza County presented itself, and it was too good to pass up! She is very excited to be given this opportunity to be back in West Texas and serve the good folks of Garza County. Sarah lives in Wilson with her husband and youngest child, who attends Post High School. Sarah also has three grown children who live in Lubbock, and three adorable grandchildren.
