Youth from Garza County 4-H, Southland FFA and Post FFA brought 12 steers to be validated at the ‘Conner pens’ by the Garza County steer validation committee June 24 at the Sid Conner Facility.
Validation is required to exhibit project steers in the local show as well as area and major shows. Garza County Ag Agent Sid Conner promotes animal projects and allows students and the steer validating committee to use his pens.
Social distancing requirements were in place with gloves, masks and sanitizer available for anyone needing it.
The 2020-2021 steer validation committee consists of Post FFA Ag teachers Perry Smith and Gary Gilliland, Southland Ag teacher Ben Stokes, Garza County Ag Extension Agent Danya Peterson, Buddy Thompson and Courtney Howard. Youth assisting throughout the morning included Trea Peterson, Jake Morris and Sylee Peterson.
