Lee Rutherford, owner of A+ Tire and Lube, stands in front of his newly opened automotive shop.
After three months of intensive planning, Lee Rutherford opened A+ Tire and Lube at 512 N. Broadway.
“A+ Tire and Lube is a family owned and operated automotive business,” Rutherford said. “I decided to open my own shop because I was tired of working for someone else. I wanted to have the ability to build something of my own and have something to pass down to my children when I decide to retire one day.”
In fact, Rutherford said owning his own business has been a lifelong dream of his.
“I was raised with an entrepreneurial mindset,” Rutherford said. “Owning my own business has always been a dream of mine from day one. My passion is to be able to build something for my children and help my community. And by opening my shop, I have the ability to do just that.”
Rutherford says that his inspiration for finally making his dream a reality are his children: Audrey, 10, Anson, 9, Kyle, 5, and Maddilynn 9 months.
“I am a single father to four amazing children,” Rutherford said. “And, as a single father, my biggest goal in life is to make sure that my children are provided for – that they have everything they need. They are my biggest inspiration to do nothing but succeed. I want to better their lives and give them a great future.”
Rutherford credits his own father, Les Rutherford of Post Automotive, for introducing him to the automotive industry from a young age.
“I have been working with vehicles my entire life,” Rutherford said. “Ever since I could walk, I was in the shop building race cars with my dad. I have worked alongside him, learning everything I could about the automotive industry.”
However, Rutherford, who moved to Post at the age of five, said he never expected to open his own business.
“I never thought I’d ever be opening a business in my hometown,” Rutherford said, “but I am very excited to do so and build a relationship with my community.”
Rutherford credits both his parents and God for the opportunity he has been given.
“First off, I would like to thank God,” Rutherford said. “Without him, nothing in my life would have been possible. I would also like to thank my parents, Les and Christy Rutherford, for all of their support and advice they have given me my entire life.”
With a multitude of service options such as oil changes, coolant flushes, tire repairs, tune ups, minor repair work and much more, Rutherford is excited for the future of his business.
“I look forward to serving the community and earning their business,” Rutherford said.
Rutherford’s shop is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturdays. To set up an appointment, call 806-746-7061. Drive-ups are also welcome.
