Gary Gene Halford passed away on October 13, 2020 in Post, Texas at the age of 67. He was born in 1953 to Luther D. and Geneivive Halford in Lubbock, Texas and grew up on the family farm near New Home, Texas in Lynn County. Gary attended New Home schools and graduated from New Home High School in 1970. He enjoyed showing animals and sports but was limited by severe asthma and what was to be a life-long battle with respiratory problems.
Gary attended South Plains College and Angelo State University and farmed several years in the New Home community. He was a voracious reader and enthusiastic fan of Texas Tech sports. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther D. and Geneivive Halford. He is survived by his sister, Eddie Jo Miller and husband, Joe, of Post, Texas; his nephew, Cameron Miller; his wife, Janell; and their great-nephews, Carson and Casey of Syracuse, New York. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Post EMT for being there for Gary on several occasions and to the staff of Post Housing Authority where he enjoyed his last years.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2020 in Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock, Texas.
