Curbside delivery to be continued
By Patsy Bilbo
The board of directors has met and agreed that curbside delivery is working well and will be continued for the time being.
Volunteers will bring your meal to your car – how easy is that!
This is a great service to so many local seniors as one hot meal a day is often all they need.
For more information about this service, contact Director Jo Ann Rathbun by calling the senior center at 806-495-2998.
In September, the center has delivered 697 meals for curbside pickup and 1,945 home deliveries. Due to the increase in clients, we now have three delivery routes.
Everyone is welcome to pick up a meal. There’s a $3 suggested donation for seniors that are ages 60 years old and older and $9 suggested donation for individuals that are 59 years old and younger.
As we enter the last quarter of 2020, I’d like to challenge all seniors to make the next three months more active. Get out of your chairs, turn off your TV and go outside. Weather has been wonderful, but we all know this will not last.
I made a list of things to challenge me during this time. Some of them are the following: walk in place during commercials, clean out a junk drawer, write someone a thank-you note, call a friend, do anything that will get you moving and do something different.
Time is marching on, so make the most of each day. Laugh out loud and give yourself a pep talk every morning. Keep your mask on! And remember, if you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours.
