Graveside services for Betty Ann (Ellis) Looney, 77, of Post, Texas were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2020 in Terrace Cemetery with Jimmie Valdez of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home. Betty died on November 6, 2020 in Lubbock, Texas.
Betty was born on September 27, 1943 in Abbeville, South Carolina to Louis and Tobitha Ellis. She married Olin Looney in McCormick, South Carolina on July 29, 1960 and had two children. They left South Carolina in September of 1969 and moved to Durham, North Carolina. From there, they moved to Post, Texas in September of 1974. Betty worked for Classic Cable in Post, Texas until she went to work in Garza County as a Justice of the Peace Court Clerk. She then went to work for the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office Civil Division as a clerk and also in the Criminal Investigation Department as a clerk until she retired.
She was also the Nursery Coordinator for the First Baptist Church in Post for many years. She became knowns as Betty LuLu. She always loved taking care of and teaching her babies, as she called them, about Jesus.
Her parents preceded her in death.
She is survived by her siblings, Mackie Ellis of Gilbert, South Carolina, Joyce Ware of Greenwood, South Carolina and Annette Slone of Donalds, South Carolina; her husband, Olin Looney of Post, Texas; two children, Les Looney and wife Diana of Post, Texas and Anita Abraham and husband, Cain of Post, Texas; five grandchildren, Joseph Abraham and wife Amy of Post, Texas, Javen Abraham of Lubbock, Texas, Stephanie Moreno and husband Emelio of Post, Texas, Kenda Hair and husband Jason of Post, Texas and Bryan Looney of Post, Texas; and ten great-grandchildren, Audrey, Leah and Miya Moreno of Post, Texas, Jadon and Landen Hair of Post, Texas, Shawn, Zackary and Ally Looney of Post, Texas and Hannah and Olivia Abraham of Post, Texas.
