Garza County 4-H members recently teamed up with the Giles W. Dalby Correctional Facility to collect canned and nonperishable foods to help restock Garza County Trailblazers Senior Citizen Center’s pantry which has recently been depleted due to Covid-19.
According to Garza County Agriculture Extension Agent Danya Peterson, the drive was an extreme success.
“Our community is absolutely the best,” Peterson said. “The response was so overwhelming as you can see by the picture. This is the true meaning of thanksgiving.”
Drop boxes were available at multiple locations throughout the month of November for citizens’ convenience. Encouraged donations included canned vegetables, soups and beans.
“Thank you to everyone that donated and to United Supermarket for letting us set up our drop box,” Peterson said.
