Running back Ashton Jefferson amassed 97 yards on foot for an outstanding four consecutive first-quarter touchdowns, including two one-play drives, to blank the Panhandle Panthers 68-0 at the Regional Quarterfinal Championship Friday.
With Post’s second one-play drive of the night coming off an interception by Josiah Ward, the Antelopes took an early 30-0 lead with Slayden Pittman, aided by Nathan McDaniel and Zach Courtney, racking up two-point conversions after every first-quarter touchdown.
Maintaining their stamina in the second, the Antelopes put up another 30 points before the halftime buzzer, this time with Pittman and McDaniel taking the ball to the endzone.
First connecting for a 21-yard touchdown pass, McDaniel and Pittman each ran their half of 25 rushing yards for an additional two touchdowns followed by a 17-yard touchdown by Avery Clarkson, all of which were accompanied by two-point conversions, for a 60-0 halftime score.
Unable to keep up their rushing attack post-halftime, the Antelopes ended their night with a 12-yard touchdown by McDaniel followed by a two-point conversion by Taye Perez in the fourth for a final of 68-0
Chipping in on the Antelopes 473 total yards of offense was Jefferson with 165 rushing yards and 19 carries accompanied by Pittman with 147 on-foot yards.
In the passing game, Pittman went 2-3 with McDaniel obtaining 51 receiving yards.
Keeping the Panthers to 44 offensive yards in 42 plays was Isaiah Crawford with 13 tackles including eight tackles for loss.
Also aiding on defense was Clarkson who nabbed 12 tackles, three of which were for a loss, and Aldo Mendoza who tallied up 11 tackles, four of which were for a loss.
The 13-0 Antelopes next face the 10-3 Cisco Loboes, a 54-20 winner over Hawley on Friday night, at Anthony Field in Abilene Christian University’s Wildcat Stadium at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 4.
