In honor of Giving Tuesday, Peoples Bank recently donated $1,000 to Garza County Trailblazers Senior Citizen Center, a local nonprofit organization that addresses senior hunger and isolation.
“This donation will help us tremendously,” Trailblazers Manager Joanne Rathbun said. “On behalf of the board members, myself and the staff at Garza County Trailblazers, we are very, very grateful. We want to give a huge thank you to Peoples Bank. We are honored that they chose us.”
Throughout 2020, Trailblazers has faced multiple hardships including the inability to hold fundraisers to cover increased expenses due to Covid-19.
“We are not receiving a whole lot of donations right now, and we are having to purchase more paper goods than ever before,” Rathbun said. “We have also had to have more repairs recently including having to buy a very expensive oven.”
Peoples Bank also donated to other area nonprofits on Giving Tuesday including Future of Nazareth Fund, High Point Village, Lorenzo Senior Citizens, Lubbock Children’s Health Clinic, Parenting Cottage, Seminole ISD Education Foundation, Shallowater ISD’s Back Pack Buddies, Slaton Meals on Wheels, Texas Boys Ranch and The Inside Out Foundation.
“We know this last year has brought trials and tribulations,” Larry Allen, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Peoples Bank, said. “We feel very blessed to be able to give back to the local communities.”
