The Pride of Post Marching Band brought home bronze after their first ever Class 2A University Interscholastic League State Marching Band Championship appearance at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas last Monday.
“That trophy is sitting in the chalk tray of our marker board at the band hall and probably will for a month or two,” Director Aaron Rathbun said. “It’s the biggest one we have ever won, and we will continue to look at it for quite a while.”
Earning the first state trophy for the Pride of Post Marching Band in the span of 103 years, Rathbun says the award represents much more than meets the eye.
“It represents the students’ willingness to overcome fatigue, cold temperatures, hot temperatures and rain,” Rathbun said. “It represents the willingness of the students to overcome mindless repetition as they wait on their classmates to ‘get it.’ Their patience is amazing.”
