Riker wins State Championship; Perez, Boren finish second

Capping in 1,075 pounds at the Texas High School Powerlifting Association State Championship in Abilene on Saturday, March 27, senior Brennan Riker took first place in weight class 132 with a 445-pound squat, 230-pound bench press and 400-pound deadlift.
And, although it was Riker’s second time qualifying for the State Championship, it was his first competing due to the event being cancelled in 2020, cutting his and hundreds of other contestants’ seasons short with the onset of the coronavirus pandemic…
