Following a tough 14-1 loss to Forsan on Tuesday, March 30, the Lady Lopes were in the zone on Saturday, April 3 as Laci Gonzales tallied five hits to secure a blistering 26-8 win over New Home.
In the high-scoring affair, Gonzales doubled in the first and fourth and singled in the second and third, aiding in the Lady Lopes’ 23 hits.
In the second inning, Bailey Tidwell drew a walk, scoring one run, followed by Gonzales singling on the first pitch of the bat for two runs to get on the Lady Lopes on the board.
Notching nine runs in the third and an additional 14 runs in the fourth inning, the Lady Lopes were gone for good with Gonzales, Cayce Britton, Alex Hernandez, Leah Gonzales, Abcde Gutierrez and Kristen Tidwell all contributing runs in the big inning.
Pitching, Leah Moreno surrendered five runs on ten hits over four innings, striking out five and walking one.
Britton, Laci Gonzales, Leah Gonzales, Gutierrez, Hernandez and Jacki Sanchez all managed multiple hits. Britton made the most plays with five.
The Lady Lopes (2-3) challenged the Seagraves Lady Eagles on Tuesday, April 6. Results were unavailable at press time.
