Roger was a quiet soul, calm demeanor and pleasant presence. He was never outspoken, so when he did speak, one would listen because they were words of wisdom. He was a Game Warden for 30 years and received several awards for his outstanding service. He loved to travel and would always take the back roads rather than the highway, which made going on a road trip with him a magical adventure.
Roger Dee Hensley was born August 20, 1935 in Lubbock, Texas. He passed on to the next step of his journey on April 3, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Hensley; son, Don Hensley and wife Debi; daughter, Sue Hensley Young and husband Chris; stepdaughter, Mona Talvacchio and husband Joe; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; two nephews, Mark Hawthorne and wife Cindy and their family and John Hawthorne and wife Lisa and their family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Lorelton Foundation, 2200 W. 4th St., Wilmington, Del. 19805 in memory of Roger Hensley and would be greatly appreciated. This was his “home” away from “home” where he was loved and created many fond memories for their staff.
