Gas prices in Post remained at $2.67 per gallon of regular unleaded and $3.19 per gallon of diesel as of press time this week.
The statewide gas price average in Texas is $2.57 per gallon of regular unleaded fuel, according to AAA Texas. That price is two cents less than the same time last week.
“Texas has the lowest statewide gas price average in the U.S. this week,” said AAA Texas spokesperson Daniel Armbruster. “Fuel prices may be lower here than any other state, but they’re also 99 cents more per gallon, on average, than what Texas motorists were paying one year ago”.
The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.86. That is not a record high. It is not even the highest in the last few years, but it is higher that the same time last year when a gallon of regular unleaded was $1.68.
This week, El Paso reported $2.91, the highest price in Texas for a gallon of regular unleaded, while San Antonio reported $2.40, the lowest price.
Lubbock’s average price is $2.62 per gallon this week compared to the same time last year when consumers were paying $1.68.
