Garza County Commissioners unanimoulsy voted to reinstate the burn ban for the next 90 days. The order, which became effective April 26, expires July 22.
The burn ban does not allow for outside burning without prior approval from the Garza County Judge’s Office. For approval, call 806-495-4405.
Garza County is currently in D1 (moderate) to D2 (severe) drought situation, receiving less than 3.5 inches since January 1. According to the Texas A&M Forest service, it would take five to six inches of precipitation to fully saturate the soil in the area.
