Borden County will advance to the Regional Final with a chance to advance to the State Tournament at the University of Texas in Austin.

LAMESA, TX- The Borden County Lady Coyotes (13-3) knocked off the #1 ranked Hermleigh Lady Cardinals (13-2) 8-1 Thursday night in the Regional Semifinals of the Class 1A UIL Softball Tournament. The Lady Coyotes gave the Lady Cardinals their second loss of the season, as Hermleigh had previously sweptBorden County in district play earlier in the season.

Hermleigh opened the game in the top of the first but did not get anything going except for a walk. Pitcher Rexie Sanders got the bats rolling for the Lady Coyotes as she hit a double with two outs in the bottom of the first inning. After Haddie Flanigan was intentionally walked, Allison Buchanan hit a grounder to Hermleigh’s second baseman, but the second baseman would botch the play trying to get Flanigan out. B.K. Behrens, who pinch ran for Sanders, would come home for the first run of the ballgame on that play.
