Dusty Grantham is the athletic director and head football coach for Southland High School. He is also a social studies teacher in Southland. Grantham grew up in Panhandle, TX and graduated as a Panther in 2007. He then graduated college from Lubbock Christian University in 2012.
Grantham will enter his 9th year of coaching this upcoming season. Grantham started his coaching career in Anton, where he stayed for six seasons. Grantham took over as the head coach in Southland in 2019. Grantham’s overall record as a head coach is 6-11. He led the Eagles to a playoff appearance in 2019.
Grantham’s favorite hobbies are golfing and watching college football. Grantham says the biggest influences in his life are both of his parents and former coaches that he’s played for and worked with. His favorite quote is, “It is not the critic who counts, not the one who points out how the strong man stumbles… The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena,” by Teddy Roosevelt. Grantham is married to his wife, Jordynne, and he has two children, Cooper and Maysen.
“We expect to stay healthy and win some games. More importantly, to improve each week,” said Gratham. “We are very young, so experience will be crucial for the next couple of years.”
Grantham also talked about the impact the community of Southland has had on him and his family.
“Southland’s community is awesome. We have great kids, great parents, and great administration. Working out here has made my family love coming to things, and work doesn’t always seem like work.”
