Special to The Post Dispatch
The Post Lady Lopes traveled to Idalou, a class 3A school, Monday night, and Post fell 3 sets to 0 to the Lady Cats. The Lady Lopes were able to keep the first two sets close, but Post ran out of gas by the 3rd set, paving the way for Idalou to start their season 1-0. Idalou’s great defense and many errors from the Lady Lopes gave the Lady Cats the advantage throughout the game.
In the 1st set, Post battled back and forth with Idalou. After a four point deficit, the Lady Lopes were able to tie the set 18-18 before the Cats pulled away to take the first set 25-20. The 2nd set saw an even tighter set. After a 21-16 Idalou lead, Post fought back, but once again, Idalou was able to take the set before the Lady Lopes could do more damage. Post dropped the 2nd set to Idalou 25-22. The 3rd set was all Idalou, as at one point, the Lady Cats held a 10 point lead in the set. Idalou won the 3rd set 25-16, sealing a 3-0 sweep in their season opener. Last season, Post also lost to Idalou in the season opener at Antelope Arena with that contest ending in a 3-2 comeback after Post led 2 sets to 0 to start the game.
Post played a dual at home Tuesday night against Coahoma and Lamesa, then they played at Olton Thursday night. In next week’s edition, The Post Dispatch will recap those games. Post will play in a dual against Benjamin and Newcastle at Benjamin on Aug. 17, and then the Lady Lopes will play in the Graham Tournament Aug. 20 and Aug. 21.
