H.O.T. funds approved by Post City Council

Post City Council met last week to approve the disbursements of the Hotel Occupancy Tax.  The Texas Legislature, in the 1980s, allowed communities to adopt a local hotel occupancy tax commonly call H.O.T., to impose a tax on visitors who stay in the hotels.

Once a city receives the H.O.T. funds, it must ultimately use the monies to promote tourism, conventions, and the hotel industry.   A H.O.T. fund review committee reviews the requests by organizations who have completed applications seeking funds for their group.

The review committee includes one city council member, Pixie Grisham.  Other members include Ashley Hawkins, Barbara Hardin, Ian Torrens, and Lisa Kirkpatrick.
