Starting the season off on the right foot is critical in any sport, and the Post Antelopes will have that chance to do just that when the #12 ranked in 2A D1 Bold Gold meet the #16 ranked Tolar Rattlers at a neutral site at Indian Stadium at Jim Ned High School in Tuscola, TX. After last year’s beatdown of the Rattlers in Clyde 70-14, Tolar will come looking for revenge against a young and inexperienced Antelope team. Despite the youth on the team, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football predicts Post to beat Tolar by two points in tonight’s contest.
The Tolar Rattlers, who are in the same district as the Crawford Pirates, graduated only two players from last season’s team. Tolar finished 5-7 last season with an Area appearance and a 4-2 district record. Three of Tolar’s four non-district losses were against 3A giants Early, Boyd, and Comanche, and all three of those schools went a combined 21-12 in 2020. The Tolar offense averaged 25.4 points per game last season.
The Rattlers return a staggering number of 21 lettermen, including eight starters on offense and nine starters on defense.
