The Post Lady Lopes were back at the grind last week, going 4-3 on the week and getting impressive wins over larger schools.
Post earned a road win on Aug. 24 over the Tulia Lady Hornets, sweeping Tulia in three sets. Post won the first set 25-18, the second set 25-14, and the third set 25-11.
On Aug. 26, the Lady Lopes competed in pool play of the Denver City Fillie Festival Tournament. Every school that Post played in this tournament were much larger than Post, ranging from UIL 3A Division 1 to 4A Division 1 (Midland Classical competes in TAPPS 3A Division 1). Like the Graham Tournament, every game was best-of-three matches.
Post opened pool play with a huge upset over hometown favorite Denver City, who is a 3A D1 school. The Lady Lopes went the distance with the Fillies, winning 2-1. Post showed great resilience in this game, winning the first set 29-27, losing the second set 20-25, then winning the third set 26-24. The Lady Lopes then fell to Midland Classical 2-0. Post won the final pool play game against 4A D2 foe Lubbock Estacado 2-0.
In bracket play on Aug. 28, Post fell to 4A D1 school Big Spring 2-0 in the opening round. The Lady Lopes once again played Lubbock Estacado in the consolation bracket and beat the Lady Matadors 2-0. The Lady Lopes’ run in the tournament ended after losing to 4A D2 school Seminole 2-0.
After a well deserved break from action, the Lady Lopes are back at home today as they host the Forsan Lady Buffs at Antelope Arena at 5 pm.
