Special to The Post Dispatch

The Post Lady Lopes (11-10) played only one game last week, and that was against the Forsan Lady Buffs on Friday, Sept. 3 at Antelope Arena.

Post dominated the Lady Buffs on their home court, winning in three sets. Post won the first set 25-15, the second set 25-16, and the third set 25-18. Post’s win over Forsan gave the Lady Lopes momentum with district play starting this week.

This past Tuesday, Sept. 7, the Lady Lopes opened District 3 play on the road at the Aspermont Lady Hornets. In District 3, there are three 2A teams including Post, and five 1A teams. District 3 is set up in a round-robin schedule, meaning every team plays everyone twice, once

at home and once on the road. Aspermont was a dark horse in 2020, finishing 2nd in the district behind Plains. Aspermont will look to stay at the top of the district in 2021 and will prove to be a good challenge in the district opener.

Tomorrow, Sept. 11, the Lady Lopes will travel to Rotan for their second district matchup. Last season, Post swept the Lady Hammers in district play, beating them twice. Rotan struggled last season amidst COVID-19 and eligibility issues and finished last in district play. Rotan will try to rebound this season and make some noise after missing out of the playoffs in 2020.

Tuesday, Sept. 14, Post returns home to welcome the defending undefeated District 3 champion, the #15 ranked Plains Cowgirls. This contest will start at 6 pm at Antelope Arena.

Jaylen had 6 kills and 6 service points. Coach Stephanie Jenkins said, “Jaylen is one of our setters and also plays front row. She has a consistent jump serve that help us gain momentum during her service rotation. She has been playing smart and aggressive this season and impacts our team great-ly”. Congratulations Jaylen!
