On September 11, 2021, the Class of 1961 of Post High School gathered at 11:00 a.m. at Trade Days Verbena Room for their 60th reunion.
Husbands, wives and friends of the class members who attended were: Tosha Gray of San Angelo, Janis Drake and daughter-in-law Amy Drake both from Lubbock, Portia Gordon of Santo, Lois Cornell of San Angelo and Robert Trail, Marianne Hart, Joe Cook and Lewis Mason all of Post.
Food was purchased from the vendors at Trade Days and enjoyed in the Verbena Room which was provided by Curt and Donna Cowdrey.
After lunch, the former class president, Mike Cornell, serving as Master of Ceremony, welcomed everyone; then Gerald Gerner led everyone in a prayer of thanks for the food and safe arrivals. At that time, he also led the group in the pledge to the American Flag as a tribute to those who lost their lives on 9/11.
Pictures of deceased classmates were displayed on the wall. Mike called for a moment of silence to remember our beloved friends and classmates. There were thirty-six members who had deceased, and they were missed by all.
President Mike Cornell then had each class member stand up and tell a brief summary about their families and experiences over the past sixty years.
Charles Gordon of Santo, Texas, Joel Morris of Arlington, Texas and Kathy Stone Dean of Capitan, New Mexico had traveled the farthest.
Tables were covered with gold colored tablecloths with bouquets of white chrysanthemum mums centered on each. The flowers were arranged in glass containers with rafia tied around each one. A small round pedestal table covered with a black tablecloth held a basket of ivy with the year of graduation in gold displayed on top and a large gold colored satin bow beneath as an accent. Two tables were covered with black cloths and used for the speaker and to display scrapbooks and pictures.
Visiting and picture taking were followed by Jane Mason singing “God Be With You Till We Meet Again”.
Plans were made to have another reunion in two years.
