A couple of weeks ago, it would have been difficult to convince me that fall would be in the air soon. The hot days persisted. But miraculously, on the first day of fall, the high temperatures began to drop a little.

We can now comfortably think about cooking our cold-weather favorites. Oh, the warm days may return but on the occasional rainy or cool day, a warm bowl of beef stew is quite in order.
