It is finally the month of April, after what seems to have been an odd few months. Maybe our weather will settle into a predictable pattern now that it is spring and April is here.

A new law passed during the last legislative session will benefit the Sheriff’s office, as well as the constables, district, and county attorney offices. Senate Bill (SB) 22, called Rural Law Enforcement Grants, established a program that will provide financial assistance to these offices.

Back in the 1980s, a Virginia grandmother tied a blue ribbon to her car antenna in tribute to her three-yearold grandson, who was killed by the cause of abuse. The ribbon was adopted and has been used by concerned citizens all over America as a symbol of awareness to prevent child abuse and neglect.
