West Texas 2024 cotton crop better than past 2 years

The region’s 2024 cotton crop will be better than the past two years, according to Mark Brown, director of field services for Plains Cotton Growers, an industry group serving 42 counties across the South Plains and Panhandle including Garza County.

Early Friday morning, November 8, the sheriff’s department received a call about a car that had gone off highway 84 just south of Post where the Johnathan McDonald memorial marker is located.

Post outruns Abernathy to District title 21-13

Garza County commissioners convened for their regular meeting on Thursday, October 24.Sheriff Terry Morgan began the county office reports by announcing the current number of incarcerated individuals: 25 from the local area and 61 from other regions.

Garza County to remain dry after Nov. 5 election

Garza County will continue to uphold its “dry” status following the November 5 election. Proposition, a ballot option for the sale of beer and wine, was voted down by over 58 percent of voters during Tuesday's general election.
