Garza County receives Rural Law Enforcement Grant

A new law passed during the last legislative session will benefit the Sheriff’s office, as well as the constables, district, and county attorney offices. Senate Bill (SB) 22, called Rural Law Enforcement Grants, established a program that will provide financial assistance to these offices.

City experiences BOIL WATER notice

Just in time for the Easter holiday, a major water line repair last Friday, Mar. 29, caused a loss of water pressure throughout the distribution system, immediately requiring the City of Post to issue a boil water notice to all customers.

Back in the 1980s, a Virginia grandmother tied a blue ribbon to her car antenna in tribute to her three-yearold grandson, who was killed by the cause of abuse. The ribbon was adopted and has been used by concerned citizens all over America as a symbol of awareness to prevent child abuse and neglect.

Free college is offered at PISD

Superintendent Cassie Petty began her report at the March Post I.S.D. Trustees meeting by announcing that if you are a high school student at Post, you can receive a free college education. “That’s no money out of your or your parents’ pockets.

The Circus is coming to town

The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus is coming to Post on Sunday, April 7, at the Post Stampede Rodeo Grounds located at 1210 N. Broadway. There will be two performance times: 2:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Each show will last 90 minutes (one and a half hours).

The Rotary Club of Post has supplied toy bears to First Responders on and off over the past years. The First Responders, in turn, would give the toy bears to children who were in distress during emergency calls.

The County Commissioners Court signed the Child Abuse Prevention Month Proclamation on Mar. 26, declaring April 2024 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Garza County. The proclamation was signed during the Commissioners’ court meeting Tuesday morning at the County Courthouse.
