May election forum planned

The Post Area Chamber of Commerce and The Post Dispatch have announced plans to hold a candidates forum for the upcoming elections on May 6.

Elementary and Middle schools announce digital library resource

Kindergarten through middle school students will receive a flyer this week on how to use our new at home resource called Sora. Sora is a digital library that is available to our students 24/7. The best part is that it is free!

Friday & Saturday, March 10-11 – JV Softball The JV Lady Lopes softball team will play in the Hobbs JV Tournament. Times will be announced. Saturday, March 11 – Baseball – The Antelopes varsity and JV will start district play with Ropes at home. The games will be at 11:00 am and 1:30 pm.

SPC to offer Petroleum Safety Classes in March

LEVELLAND – South Plains College will host two general safety classes for petroleum industry workers March 30 and March 31 in the Technology Center. On March 30, the Hydrogen Sulfide Gas (H2S) will begin at 8 a.m. The four-hour course will cost $130. On March 31, Safeland will start at 8 a.m.

POOL MANAGER NEEDED

The City of Post is looking for a swimming pool manager to operate the Post Swimming Pool from May 26 (memorial day weekend) to about August 15 (depending on when school starts). The pool manager gets all funds from concessions, gate, summer recreation and private parties.

Do You Remember?

Last week we talked about Texas Independence, so let’s go to the beginning of this area, Garza County and Post City. This part of Texas was barely known in 1836 when it was included in the Republic of Texas. The first census recorded was in 1880.
