The Texas Senate honored a retired schoolteacher, Opal Lee, 96 as “Grandmother of Juneteenth” on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. Lee was honored for her lifelong efforts in the field of civil rights that led to Juneteenth becoming the eleventh federal holiday in 2021.

Stock Show season is in full swing. It started with the local stock shows in Southland and Post. Local FFA and 4-H members have exhibited in Ft. Worth, San Angelo, and San Antonio. They will compete in the major stock show circuit in Houston.

City reviews Curfew Ordinance

When the City Council meets on Tuesday, Feb. 21, they will consider readopting the City Ordinance of Chapter 2, Division 2: Curfew.
The curfew issue has come up in discussions after several juvenile burglaries occurred in the last few months.
