City Begins Repair on City Hall and Community Center

The city council met Tuesday, September 13, 2022, in the council chambers of the city hall. All the council members were present including Mayor Marvin Self, City Manager Rhett Parker, City Secretary Meg Nelson, Assistant Secretary Susan Collazo, Code Enforcer Eddie Pitts, and Sheriff Terry Morgan.

Rainfall brings relief but drought situation remains

Rainfall across Texas and cooler temperatures provided agricultural producers some relief from drought and extreme heat over recent weeks, but most areas remain in a moisture deficit, according to the Texas state climatologist and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service agronomists.

First Bale for 2022 Harvest

The first bale of cotton was harvested northwest of Seminole on Tuesday, Sept 6. by Justina and Corny Enns. The bale weights 2880 lbs. and was cotton variety Deltapine 1646.

Sheriff’s Report

Garza County Sheriff Terry L. Morgan provided the Garza County Commissioner Court and City Council with a report on the service calls his department received during the month of August. A total of 578 service calls were creating 536 call sheets in the month of August.

Sheriff Morgan sets record in collections

Sheriff Terry Morgan reported to the Commissioners Court Monday, September 12 the collections for this year through August. The billing to other counties since January 2022 totals $627,155.

Municipal Court Report

During the week of September 3 - 9, 2022. The Post Municipal Court had 9 cases and collected $2,915.20 in fines and fees. The following cases are closed/guilty/fines and fees are in collection: • Pablo Contreras-Davila: Speeding 70/55 zone - $247.70 / Violate Promise to Appear - $280.
