LUBBOCK- Whether it’s coming home from the pool or a BBQ, summer fun can end quickly with just one bad decision. Every 23 minutes there’s a crash involving a driver under the influence of alcohol. That’s more than 60 crashes a day and adds up to a lifetime of pain for families who lost loved ones.

The 242nd meeting of the Texas Board of Criminal Justice convened Aug. 19 in Austin for action regarding the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) fiscal year 2026 proposed operating budget, which was recorded for later public viewing by those unable to attend in person and posted on YouTube.

The Post Lady Lopes traveled to Littlefield over the weekend to participate in that school’s first tournament of the season. The Ladys hoped to get back on track after a loss to Kingdom Prep Academy.

State sales tax revenue totaled $4.2 billion in July

Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock today said state sales tax revenue totaled $4.19 billion in July, 4.9 percent more than in July 2024. The majority of July sales tax revenue is based on sales made in June and remitted to the agency in July.
