August 7–9 marked the 85th annual Post Stampede Rodeo, and it turned out better than ever. Rodeo President John Wheeler once again delivered an unforgettable event filled with vendors, concerts, horseback riding, and, of course, thrilling bull rides.

Lady Eagles begin inaugural volleyball season

Southland’s first-ever volleyball team held their first scrimmage at Christ the King School in Lubbock on Aug. 8, against the Lady Trojans. This is the first time the Lady Eagles would play out-of-town competition before their season officially began on Aug. 12.

The Garza County Juvenile Detention board met Aug. 1. An agenda item was considered concerning Chief Probation Officer Chelsey Webb told the Dispatch she received a call back on July 1 from the Texas Juvenile Justice Department notifying her of a lapse in her certification.
