City council votes to finish baseball fields within 6 to 8 weeks; volunteer group’s fund-raising called into question

ANNA GIBSON | POST DISPATCH The City of Post met for their regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 11. Mayor Marvin Self called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. During a citizen comment, Melba Cimental expressed concerns about her water bill, noting that her meter has been manually read since August.

Beekeeping: an educational family experience

Keeping a hive of bees can be an educational family activity as well as providing honey for your table and pollination for your garden and flowering plants. Most city ordinances allow up to two bee hives per city lot.Many families make beekeeping an experience for adults and children.

Commissioners hear office reports, approve audit, license plate recognition cameras

Garza County commissioners met for their regular meeting Monday, Feb. 10. With all commissioners present, the meeting was called to order at 9 a.m.County offices gave their reports. Sherriff Michael Isbell says the jail is holding 77 inmates, 30 of which are from Garza County.
LIGHTS OUT Garza County experienced a power outage on Wednesday, Feb. 5 from 6:48 p.m. to 9:33 p.m. A total of 2,082 of Xcel Energy’s tracked meters in Garza County were without power during that time. Thankfully, the temperature was near 70 degrees. | ANNA GIBSON PHOTO

On Wednesday, Feb. 5, Garza County experienced a significant power outage that left a substantial number of residents in the dark. According to Xcel Energy, 2,082 customers out of the 5,974 tracked meters lost power.The outage occurred at precisely 6:48 p.m.
