Celebration on Main Street the 79356 way

Anyone driving through Post on Saturday might have been surprised to see all the activity on Main Street.

But in typical Post fashion it was big deal and done up the right way. Main street was filled with sidewalk vendors, pop-up vendors, farmers market vendors, food trucks, and to top it all off a parade through town. Downtown merchants offered specials in each store. It was a shopper’s delight.

Parking on Main Street was “iffy” at best and absolutely no parking once the parade started.

Sheriff Morgan and his family led a parade of horses, floats, vintage cars, and First Responders complete with lights and sirens. Candy was thrown to spectators along the parade route which included a detour down 7th Street past Post Nursing and Rehab facility, before traveling east from the courthouse to the railroad tracks and back to West Main.

Post Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored the 2022 Rodeo Parade and offered $500 in prize money to the top participants. Bold Gold Varsity and JV Football teams won the Best of Show and $125. The top three each won $75 and included Middle School Cheerleaders, Middle School Football and The Church of God of Prophecy. Winners of the open category and $50 each included Billy Morrison, Graham Chapel Kids and Bama.

Saturday night wrapped up the three night performances of the 82nd Annual Post Stampede Rodeo with a soldout crowd and standing room only. And in typical Post style, the rodeo did not disappoint. Cowboys and cowgirls put on a performance to be remembered. The calf scramble is always a favorite of the local kids. Whether you have on boots or flip-flops kids scrambled to get the ribbon off the calf.

Long lines for tickets, food, drinks, and entrance to the dance provided proof of the success of the 2022 PSR.

Until then #letsgotopost #supportlocal, youneverknowwhatyoumight find on Main Street, 79356.
