What beautiful fall weather! The rain was a treat, and we’ll look forward to more moisture in the near future. I have very little small talk this week, so on to new books in the library. We have a full display of children’s Halloween books including several new board books: “Autumn Leaves Fall” by Amber Hendricks, and “The Goodnight Train Halloween” by June Sobel.
Numerous large print books have arrived, some even ahead of the regular print order. These include: Beneath the Bending Skies-Jane Kirkpatrick Endless Summer-Erin Hilderbrand High Notes-Danielle Steel Marmee-Sarah Miller-The story of “Little Women” told from Marmee’s perspective
“The Mosquito Bowl”--Buzz Bissinger, author of “Friday Night Lights.” This is a nonfiction book that takes place in the year 1944. According to the summary, the U.S. Marine Corps received the largest number of college football players. The 4th and 29th regiments were training for the invasion of Okinawa. They trash-talked and ended up playing an epic game, the Mosquito Bowl. This sounds like a winning book on World War II history.
