As we begin to breeze into spring, it becomes my favorite time of the year in parts of Texas. When our area is blessed with moisture, our wildflowers paint our scenery with a loveliness we aren’t accustomed to. This brings to mind the book a very dear woman, Zoe Merriman Kirkpatrick, wrote and photographed: “Wildflowers of the Western Plains.” If only we could all see the beauty of nature through her eyes. We have this book at our library for checkout. April is also Poetry Month. Some love it and some dislike it, but it helps our brains to read something different occasionally. I believe we “hit the jackpot” this week as we have 13 of 15 books from the New York Times Hardcover-Best Seller List, and our waiting list has grown. The most competitive book in our library currently is one by C.J. Box called “Storm Watch.” This author is a favorite. It’s pleasing to see our community use our library.
