My commander at Fort Knox, Kentucky, had family roots in Scotland.

Because of those roots he decided to learn how to play the bagpipes. He gained a lot of attention as he practiced on the parade field in front of his quarters. Unfortunately, there were those—perhaps more than a few—who did not appreciate the “melodious” sound of bagpipes.
