UIL to require wet bulb globe temperature for Texas schools

Starting August 1, 2026, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) will require schools to use wet bulb globe temperature readings to determine whether it is safe for student-athletes to practice outdoors.
The wet bulb globe temperature estimates the effect of temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and solar radiation from three thermometers.
