Jon Hugh Overstreet, 85, of Post, TX, passed away peacefully on Feb. 12, 2025. Born in Taft, TX on Sept. 29, 1939, Jon led a life full of service, community involvement, and joy in simple pleasures.
Jon was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Sheri Overstreet, who survives him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas B. Overstreet and Dorothy Overstreet, as well as his siblings: Sister Leontyne, twin brother Jan, and sister Carroll Ann.
He is lovingly remembered by his sons, JB and Todd Overstreet, and his granddaughters, Reese and Taylor, who brought much joy into his later years.
Jon served honorably in the United States Air Force. After his military service, he remained active in his community, contributing significantly to the local Jaycee’s organization, where he made many lasting friendships.
In his leisure time, Jon was an avid bowler and golfer, enjoying both sports for their camaraderie and the challenge they offered. His passion for these hobbies was wellknown among friends and family, often sharing stories and laughs from the greens at Lubbock Country Club where he was a member until shortly before his death.
Jon will be remembered for his warm smile, his great sense of humor, and his love and dedication to family. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched and the love he shared with all who knew him.
A memorial service to celebrate Jon’s life will be announced at a later date.
