1937–2026
Katie Lou O’Neal, lovingly known simply as Katie Lou, passed away July 28, 2026, in Burnet, Texas, at age 88. She was born Oct. 29, 1937, in Graham, Texas, and lived a life marked by warmth, devotion and a spirited love for the people around her. She was a loving, friendly and spirited woman whose presence brought comfort and joy to her family and friends throughout the years.
Katie Lou graduated from Post High School in 1955, and she carried the values of hard work, loyalty and perseverance with her throughout her life. She met each season of life with grace and a steady heart, and those who knew her will remember the kindness she extended so naturally to others. Her life was centered on family, and she found her greatest happiness in the simple and meaningful moments shared with those she loved.
She is survived by her husband, Roger O’Neal; her sons, Mason Thane and Michael Thane; her daughter, Amy Lasseigne; her grandchildren, Hunter, Parker, Micah, Zoe, Maddison and Olvia; her seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Kim Pinder; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she treasured the bonds that connected her to generations of family. Her love for them was steadfast, and her family will forever carry the memory of her encouragement, her laughter and her gentle spirit.
Katie Lou especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, and those moments brought her great joy. Whether she was sharing stories, offering a kind word or simply enjoying their company, she made each child feel valued and loved. Her family will remember her as a constant source of support and affection, someone who celebrated their milestones and stood beside them through life’s challenges. Among her favorite pastimes were bowling and country- and-western dancing with her husband, Roger. Her spirited personality shone brightly in the way she embraced life and the people around her.
