Ada Lou Chambless Bird 88, of Post, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023 in her home surrounded by her loving daughters. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at the Bird Family Ranch Cemetery. Interment will follow under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home. A visitation will be 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Thursday, January 12, 2023 at the funeral home.
Ada Lou was born Jan. 4, 1935 in Spur, TX. to the late Bill and Inez Chambless. She married James Allen “Jimmy” Bird III on July 7, 1950 in Roswell, NM. Ada Lou will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, friend and fashion social butterfly and owner of La Posta Boutique for 50 years. She will be deeply remembered for her big smile, giving heart and vivacious personality long after her passing.
Ada Lou is preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Bird, son Jay Cliff Bird and daughter Lindy Lou Bird. Ada Lou is survived by her three daughters Sherry Sappington of Lubbock, TX., Cindy Shepherd of Post, TX. and Dana Bird of Post, TX.; two sisters Doris Hardin of Yoakum, TX. Wanda Hancock of Spur, TX.; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Everyone who would like to attend Ada Lou’s service is asked to meet at Hudman Funeral Home on Friday at 1:15 P.M. to go in procession to the ranch. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Post Methodist Church at 216 W. 10th St. Post, TX 79356.
