BARBARA ANN (SLATE) TAYLOR

Barbara was born on January 8th, 1939, in Purcell, OK., to Virgil and Etta Slate. Barbara was the second child of the family which eventually included one older sister and two younger brothers. She passed away on June 27th, 2023, at UMC in Lubbock, TX.

Barbara moved to Pampa, TX., and met her husband, James F. Taylor Sr, at Caldwell Drive-In, where she worked as a car hop. James and Barbara were married on the first day of Spring in 1959 (03/21/1959). Barbara and James had two sons, James Jr. and Thomas. Barbara spent most of her life working and taking care of her family and her mother-in-law, Jewel Taylor. She worked as needed as a special diet cook or school cafeteria cook when time called for it and enjoyed her family and all the adventures they took her on. Barbara despised the song Barbara Ann by the Beach Boys, which gave her son Tom much delight in playing every chance he could.

Barbara loved and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and her daughter-in-law.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents; sister Eula Vee Slate; brothers Carroll Sean Slate and Jerrold Slate; niece Alice Clark; and her grandson Nicholas Taylor.

Barbara is survived by her son, James F. Taylor Jr, and wife, Margaret of Hillsboro, TX., and her son Thomas D. Taylor and wife, Traci of Post. Her grandchildren are in order of age Julio, Ashton, Amanda, and Matthew. Barbara had four grandchildren Cassandra, Bryson, Caden, and Talan.

A memorial service was held at Hudman’s Funeral Home on June 30. She was laid to rest beside her husband in the White Deer Cemetery, White Deer, TX., where a graveside service was held.
