Betty Stanley, 1929–2025

Betty Stanley, 96, of Post, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Aug. 19, 2025. Betty was born Feb. 3, 1929, in Sylvester, Fisher County, Texas, to Jack and Lena Douglass Perkins. She was the oldest of nine children.

She attended the small country schools of Pleasant Valley, Sylvester, Kalgary and Girard, graduating from Spur High School in 1946. Betty lived a life marked by service, compassion and devotion to her family.

She held many jobs throughout her lifetime, including working as a caregiver up until the age of 80. She loved getting to know her patients and their families and met many interesting people. Some of her favorite things were baking, crafting, needlework, genealogy, family gatherings and trips with her sisters. She loved to be outside, enjoying nature, taking care of the yard and her flowers. She leaves behind many cherished memories and a legacy of love and faith.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Patsy, and husband, Kim Wilks, of Post, daughter-in-law Ruthell Stanley of Post; four sisters, Darlene Young of Spur, Arlene Jones of Kerrville, Judy White of Jayton, Jackie Olson of Big Spring, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Terrell Perkins and Earnest Perkins; two sisters, Ruth Graves and Peggy Perkins; three sons, Joe, Kenneth and Dicky Stanley; daughter-in-law, Carmen Stanley; grandson, Robert Stanley; and great-grandson, Rod Wilks. Services were held at First Baptist Church of Post Aug. 23, 2025, with Rev. Keith Garner officiating. Interment followed at Terrace Cemetery under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home.
