Johnny Lynn Hair, also known as “Joking Johnny,” came into this world on Feb. 4, 1952, to Jack Allison and Marcella Lavern Ammons. Johnny was called home on Nov 2, 2023, at the age of 71. Johnny was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Jack and Marcella, and two brothers, Jackie Glen and Michael Jay, and two of his best friends, Roger Blair and Jimmy Marlin. Johnny is survived by two brothers, Larry Joe and Steve Allison, wife Amanda and step-children, Brooklyn Garcia and husband Kobe, Izaih, Trace, and Ja’Kob, including his children, Corey Wade Hair, Melissa Ann Cumby, Jennifer Dawn Mc-Intire, Jamie Lynn DePaul and husband Josh.

Johnny had 18 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

Johnny attended South Plains College but ended up getting drafted into the United States Army, where he served our country for 15 years. After his Army career, he returned home to join his father and brothers at H&M Dirt Contractors, where he retired after many years. Johnny loved family. He loved spending time outdoors. He rodeoed, took care of kids, spent lots of time with grandkids, loved telling stories and joking around, played jokes, and aggregated others. He loved to dance and go to drive or ride around the tanks and sit by fire pits.

There was never a dull moment with Johnny.

His pastime was going to Ruidoso, or just anywhere there was water. He loved church, and he loved honky tonking.

He loved life, and he loved to make people smile. Johnny will be greatly missed, and we ask, at this time, for prayers of peace and healing for all of his loved ones. This is where the cowboy rides away.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service was held on Monday, Nov.6 at Living Water Apostolic Church with Pastor Lance Gill officiating. Services under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home.
