Juan “Nune” Bustoz, Jr.

Juan “Nune” Bustoz Jr. died peacefully of natural causes, on Jan. 1, 2023, at University Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born on Sept. 19, 1952, in Post, Texas, the son of Juan Sr. and Audiencia.

Nune attended Post High School and began an honorable career in the oil field industry and later became an independent contractor in the Lubbock area. In 1997 he married Nelda Hernandez, and they settled in Lubbock. They celebrated 25 years of marriage in February 2022. Nune was a great cook and an avid pool player. He was a dedicated fan of the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees and took great interest in local high school and Texas Tech sports. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers (Sone, Pablo, Lee) and two sisters (Pauline and Cheyne). Surviving in addition to his wife Nelda is his sister (Loy), his brother (Ernie), his three sons (Jake, Brian, John), his five daughters (Zina, Jennifer, Priscilla, Christi, Jodi), thirteen grandchildren (Tiffanie, Dylan, Nathan, Josiah, Miley, Sebastian, Dominic, Chino, Melodie, Hope, Atanacio, Mikayla, Audrie) and two great-grandchildren (Ariella and Gianna), along with several nieces and nephews.

A service of remembrance was held Jan. 7, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church in Post with Pastor Jimmy Valdez officiating. Interment followed at Terrace Cemetery in Post.

Pallbearers were Gabie Romero, Tracy Perez, Joshua Bustoz, Nathan Collazo, Josiah Collazo, Lisa Campos and Dylan Pearson.
