Leonor Marin Chapa, of Post, gained her heavenly wings on February 9, 2024, and is now in the presence of our Lord at the age of 79.

She was born November 6, 1944, in Linares, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to the late Gavino Marin Rios and Niebes Perales de la Fuente and was a resident of Post for 50 years.

Leonor was married to and preceded in death by her husband Amando Barrera Chapa. She is survived by their three children, Amando Marin Chapa, Victor Marin Chapa, San Juanita (Janie) Chapa Blackstone and her husband George Blackstone. Her grandchildren Amando Q. Chapa IV, Christian A. Chapa, Lucy Lilliana Padilla married to Ricardo Padilla, Haily Aguinaga, Marcos A. Blackstone, Sebastian R. Chapa, Andrew E. Blackstone, Faith A. Chapa, Everlee G. Chapa, and Olivia P. Chapa. Her siblings Pedro Marin Perales, Jose Marin Perales, Maria del Refugio Marin Perales de Cabrieles, and Adrian Marin Perales. She is survived by many nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law all which were loved dearly.

Leonor was an accomplished seamstress and for over 40 years owned and ran Matamoros Restaurant and later Chapa’s Family Restaurant, where she was often called “Mamma Chapa” by friends, employees, and customers. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, and spending time with her family.

Visitation and Rosary will be at the Hudman Funeral home on Thursday, February 15 with services to be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 10:00am, Friday, February 16th. Internment will follow at the Terrace Cemetery, Post, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Amando Chapa IV, Christian Chapa, Ricardo Padilla, Marcos Blackstone, Sebastian Chapa, and Andrew Blackstone.
